  Ed, allow me to add my two cents.Don't bother with a switching
 power supply.I use 10 9v batteries and 4D cells in parallel for
 a Philco 39-70 four tube farm set.I got about 300 hours out the
 A batteries before replacing them and still have 7 year old 9v
 batteries powering the radio.A lot of these sets have short wave
 and make great playing sets with little if any wear or abuse from
 not being used very much.
