  I acquired several (early?) transistor radios at a recent sale. One, an RCA model 4RH11, is pictured at the following link;

  As seen in the photo of the radio interior it employs an RCA VS 149, 4 volt battery - it appears to be about the size of a current AA 1.5 volt battery. I see replacements available on the internet but no apparent history about this battery.

  I am curious when this battery was produced and for how long - it may help date the radio. Also, was it really 4 volts or 4.5 volts? It seems that most batteries are comprised of a series of 1.5 volt cells. Anyone know (Alex, maybe)? Thanks!
