Hi Joe- Sorry for the delay responding, been busy and
sick at the same time... Anyway, I am attaching a
couple pics of an 846A- not mine, as I haven't taken
pics yet, but I am also including a couple scans of
the technical detail sheets from the case.
Interestingly enough, I got mine running already!
Tested the tubes last night(all in good order)
replaced the majority of the power cable, and replaced
a glaringly defective .00025mf capacitor.(Had a
definite crack in it) Also cleaned ll the accumulated
dust off the chassis... I initially hooked it up to my
isolation transformer, and through a light bulb, for a
low power start up, but that only got the dial bulb to
glow dimly. So I ran it direct through the isolation
transformer- nothing came on! So I fed her line power,
and she came right to life. The bulb started a little
dim, and brightened right up, and the tubes started
glowing. Then I started hearing stuff on the tuner,
and was able to pull in a few local stations. I can't
wait to hang a longwire, and see how she does! I've
been listening through a headset, as the speaker cone
is totally withered and dead... Need a recone job.
Otherwise, all looks fine! a little more cosmetic to
do, and she'll be 100%(some wood touch ups, and a new
speaker cloth.)
