[NJARC] Local Radio Stations

It was interesting to hear Walt Heskes comments about the loss of 'local' radio stations, that is, stations that provide local news and information because they are owned by large companies with preprogrammed agendas to further their own commercial interests. (as per NY Times artilce)
Several years ago we were faced with the remnants of a hurricane (Flloyd?) where we lost power and water (we have city water) for over 24 hrs due to flooding. We tried to get information from local radio stations but it was Saturday and they were on a weekend mode with no scheduled news reports; only football and other network programs. We were later able to get more specific information from NY TV news stations when power resumed on Sunday.
I now keep a battery powered TV handy for emergencies. It seems 'local' radio is sadly a thing of the past.
