[NJARC] Repairing tinsel conductor headphone leads

Hi everybody!

I use a set of SONY MDR-V6 stereo headphones with an adapter for my radios
because they are s-o-o-o-o-o comfortable.  However, I ran over them with a
vacuum cleaner and it ripped off the plug.  What is left are the three
conductors sticking out of the cord but they are the 'tinsel' kind and seem
to be wrapped in a very fine layer of some type of insulating material.  For
the life of me I cannot find the actual conductors.  Anybody have any
experience with this kind of problem?
