[NJARC] Closing, A Store Near You

Growing up in Brooklyn I used to visit Gem electronics and Lafayette.
Once I moved out to central Jersey I frequented Monmouth Radio near Red Bank
and Interstate Electronics (IEI) in Hazlet. Monmouth Radio is gone but IEI
is still there on Route 36 near the parkway (117 exit). They have changed
with the times and sell big screen TVs and lots of audio stuff but in the
back they still have the old counter with the old stock capacitors,
resistors, and belts for turntables and tape machines.

Radio Shack just didn't seem to appeal much to me. Nor did the Lafayette
store in Plainfield (where I purchased my HA-225 receiver with money from my
paper route). Greenbrook works for me as well in a pinch. I wonder if Disco
Electronics (Springfield) is still around?

But since some of us are waxing nostalgic I often went to Williams
Electronics. They are located right of Route 1 in Edison on Woodbridge
avenue. They are still there though like Greenbrook now have a more targeted
market.
