OK. Those of us out in the country used to order everything
from Allied Radio (still remember the address, 100 North
Western Ave, Chicago, Ill (and no zipcodes yet)). or else
bought stuff at the Olsen Radio Stores (HQ: Akron, Ohio)
Of course, the kits came from either Allied or from Heathkit
(Benton Harbor, Mich. - have you ever been to Benton Harbor?
- I have - don't go) Then there was Lafayette, until they committed CB
suicide. And of course there were the war suprlus parts from
G&G Radio and others - either Leonard St or Vesey St, in NYC - (don't
look for them - they're underneath the World Trade Center location),
and of course there was Canal St.
Face it. Businesses change - business models change. As far as
some of us are concerned, Radio Shack is a newcomer anyway.
And you're right, we can get better parts - and cheaper - either online, or
at flea markets.
