I, too, have enjoyed the thread on the fate of Radio Shack. I also noticed
the store near me was one of the victims of the closure.

Perhaps a hundred years from now the members of the Antique Cell Phone
Collectors Club will lament the passing the successor to Radio Shack. They
may even reminisce about going to the local mall to purchase cell phones,
upgrade their service, or buy phone accessories.

I assume RS will have to change their name to reflect the new product line.
With the emphasis on cell phones and phone accessories they might call
themselves the "Phone Booth," the "Phone Boutique," or maybe something as
venturous as the "Dial Tone Zone." Other spin-offs could be the "Ring Tone
Zone" or "The Next Tel" - the sky's the limit.

I have fond memories of visiting Radio Shack and Lafayette stores, as well
as, various local suppliers. (Moyer's Electronics in Pottsville, PA and
A.A. Peters in Allentown/Bethlehem, PA. Also remember Kass Electronics in
Drexel Hill and ALMO on Roosevelt Blvd. in Phila. PA. And who can forget
the Heathkit stores!)

Just my two cents
