Would like to be the first but alas, I don't think I'll qualify.

Unable to find a Rider's schematic that might give a clue to the 
manufacturer.  If your set used a 27 instead of the 24A as the detector 
(making an assumption on the 24A), then I might have found something.  
If your set had 6 tubes instead of 7, then it might have been made by 
Halson Radio Mfg. Corp., located in Meriden, Conn.

 From a tube substitution list, I found a 35 and 51 are the same tube.  
A 35/51 will replace a 24A, but the other way around is frowned upon.  
Are the sockets marked with the tube number?

Given that some components were manufactured in NYC, it is possible the 
set was made in the NYC area.  I don't have a list of NYC area 
manufactures, but I'll bet there were a lot.
