Hi- As some of you may know, I am involved in a
struggle with a Philco 37-650. I have just discovered
that one of the resistors I replaced was replaced with
the wrong value! I should have double checked what I
was sent, but I trusted the supplier, and put a
3,300,000,000 ohm resistor in place of a 330k ohm
resistor. Little difference of 10,000 times what it
should be... And its location being between the bias
resistor and one of the output 6F6G's first grid, as
well as on the way to the first audio 6K5G plate seems
to make a great difference.

Having replaced the offending resistor, I now get
"squak and squeal" as I have everything misaligned.
Once I realign, I hope to have her running properly...

Just thought I'd share the happy news...

Scott

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings that thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." John Stuart Mill, 'The Contest in America', Feb. 1862
