For those of you who listen to Canada's 740 AM broadcasts, you might
like this reply sent in response to an email I sent them concerning
format changes:
Hi Martin,
Yes, we've heard of the WECK and WWKB changes - these things can really
'shake' a radio audience. In recent weeks we've heard from so many folks
in Western New York, (and beyond too...you're in New Jersey)... and we
welcome you to AM 740. We're fortunate to have one of the last
clear-channel, 50,000 watt frequencies - it gives us a giant coverage
area, especially after sunset. We regularly get calls and letters from
listeners in Maine, Cape Cod, New York City, Washington DC, right thru
to Detroit, Chicago, and parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota too.
Don't worry about a format change here - we are independantly-owned and
have been in this format (with minor adjustments here and there) since
1956. That's right, this is our 50th year. However, most folks
couldn't hear us at '1250'...and our switch to '740' in 2001 gave us a
whole new life. We went from about 150,000 listeners to over 500,000
every year since then.
So welcome aboard...stay and enjoy...and tell your friends.
Cheers,
Gene Stevens
