Agreed, Nick.

I live in Morris County. Thirty years ago, there were three or four electronics distributors within 15 minutes of me. Now, there is only one: Wayne Electronics on Route 23 in Pequannock. (By the way, a great store if you're ever in the area). Radio Shack meets a neet for basic items, such as resistors etc. Every now and then, Radio Shack will surprise you by stocking something you'd never expect to find there.

The salesclerks, of course, are so young that they believe electronics began with solid state. It reminds me what happened with a friend of mine who went into a music store recently looking for a Beatles album. "Oh, yeah," the young clerk said. "Weren't they the group that Paul McCartney was with before Wings?"
