[NJARC] Disc Capacitors

Disc ceramics can exhibit Piezo-electric characteristics and therefore are
not very suitable for high gain low level audio amplifiers. They work well
in low impedance de-coupling circuits and at higher RF frequencies. Regards

Nick, ceramic discs were used a lot on Hammarlund sets, such as the later
SP-600s and the HQ-180s. They sure stand the test of time a lot better than
paper caps or black beauties. I'm not sure of the scientific basis but I've
heard that ceramic discs can cause problems in certain
audio circuits.
