CHRS/KRE REPORT: Our work days this past weekend produced great
results. We got lots done in the building & on the grounds. Our Saturday
crew members were Larry Drees, Jerry Cantou, Janice Kushman, Butch McDonald
& Maria Palting, Harry Kauffman, Tom Bonomo, Alan Voorhees, Joe Grossman,
Scott Robinson, Bill Wray, John Staples, Art Lebermann & myself. Lots of
weeds were eliminated, the road is clean & weed free, the flower beds are
complete, W6CF was tweaked, light fixtures were put up & hundreds of
radios were sorted into lots. And, many radios were dropped off & donated
to us. On Sunday, Bill Wray returned with a floor scrubbing machine & made
the floors in the Dillberg Radio repair shop & the upstairs hallway look
almost new. Alan Voorhees added more auction lots, Janice Kushman cleaned
the parking lot & Steve Kushman worked in the studio. A huge thank you to
all worked for CHRS last weekend. Our building & grounds will look quite
spiffy for the Big Event thanks to our dedicated volunteers.

Remember, the only way we will succeed in our vision of creating a
place devoted to RADIO at KRE, is by your continuing support. CHRS needs
your dollars and your time. Please donate both to CHRS. It will make you
feel great. If you haven't sent back your 2005 renewals & donations, please
do it as soon as you can. You will be able to catch up on your renewals on
Saturday.

4 Days to go until.... "Live! at KRE 2005"....

July 16th - "LIVE! at KRE 2005 - An event to benefit CHRS". This
Saturday - 10 am - 2 p.m. - Gate opens at 9:30 am. At the KRE Building,
601 Ashby Ave., in Berkeley. CHRS will present "Frankye Kelly & Friends"
and "The Tamsen Donner Band", plus "The Broadcast Legends", live on stage.
Our Master of Ceremonies will be legendary Bay Area radio personality &
CHRS member, Carter B. Smith. We also will have a giant auction, radio flea
market, tours of KRE, the KVTO & KFRC transmitters, W6CF will go on the air
for the 1st time from its new home, presentation of the 2005 Herrold Award,
Edison cylinder concert featuring the Amberola 30 playing very vintage
music. Food & Beverages and much more. We encourage you to bring your
family & friends. It will be a festive day full of fun for all. $5 per
person donation at the gate.

THINK BIG THIS YEAR. We raised over $4000 last year so we want to
raise $10,000+ this year. We now have over 160 lots of radios to be
auctioned. Please check out the special auction preview web page. We are
offering up some great radios! Just added today is a 1927 Grebe HS-8 built
into a beautiful drop front desk. A rare radio indeed. Come and enjoy
the extraordinary vocal styling of "Frankye Kelly & Friends". Ms. Kelly
sings at Yoshi's, the Ritz Carlton, has 3 CDs and tours Europe. Her
specialty is Jazz, Blues & Standards. We will also present the popular
local Blues/Rock, "Tamsen Donner Band". And don't forget, the "Broadcast
Legends" performing the the opening & a scene from "Gunsmoke" on stage &
the Edison cylinder concert.

We are pleased to be featuring Aidells fine sausages at the event. We
wish to thank the Aidells Sausage Co. for their generous donation of 4
cases of tasty links to feed hungry radio collectors. We will need a lot of
volunteers to staff this event. We need: a safety officer, people on the
gate, parking monitors & ushers, food staff, auction staff, tour guides,
flea market staff, clean up crew & stage managers. Please reply to
kushseal at flash.net if you want to help. Stay tuned for schedule of events &
auction list. We need lots of volunteers starting at 7 am to haul all the
radios out of the building and to set up the event.

Be sure to visit our web site. Mike Adams updates it frequently. See
pictures of radios to be auctioned, the auction list & the continuing
restoration of KRE.
