Has anyone worked on a Philco Jr., Model 80? I just finished recapping it,
including gutting those tar filled modules. I used Ray Bintliff's book as a
reference for the cap. modules and the schematic, of course. All went well with
that.
Here is the problem, it is receiving SW better then broadcast AM. In
fact, broadcast AM reception is nearly nonexistent. The radio was not built
as a SW receiver. So far, everything from the antenna out matches the
schematic, somewhat. The schematic is for the initial production and this radio was
built for the 10th production run. You guessed it, they changed a few things.
What should I be looking for? If you've worked on one of these, you know
that there isn't much to recapping it. Volume is OK, but I didn't expect much.
If you have worked on one of these, is there something I could look
for that is peculiar to this radio. I'm using Riders and Beitman references and
found no differences.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
