[NJARC] Help with radios

I have a Silvertone model 1968 (circa 1931) that works beautifully on some stations but I need to better boost reception.  The antennae is so so with how it works.  Any suggestions.  Could it be that North Jersey/NY Metro is a tough area for reception?  I can only get 880 AM and 1010 AM.  

I also have an RCA 211.  It does not work and I need it repaired.  Anything local to North Jersey?  The Silvertone was fixed by a gentleman in Tarrytown, NY about 20 years ago.  Not sure how to get a hold of him now.

Interestingly enough, I do not find either of these radios in the picture archives.
