have a 47 crosley tv that was working just fine until recently
My kids left it powered on for as few days and I turned it off

A few weeks later I went to turn it on and it was dead. It poped the fuse
I replaced the fuse and it popped immediately on power on.

Does this sound like a bad cap in the power supply opr possibly a bad
rectifier tube. ??

Wayne,
I'd definitely suspect the power supply electrolytics. If
they've never been replaced before (or in a long time), the power supply should be
completely recapped. Hopefully if that's your problem, the caps didn't take
anything along with them and saved your power transformer and other
components.

Regarding the rectifier tube, have you tested it? A bad rectifier won't
necessarily blow a fuse.

The best of luck,
                        Joe Cro N3IBX
