Yes, I do have a pair of 866's...warming them with only filament is a thing I would not have thought about.
Yes, I do have Big oil cans...they appear to be good via my RCA VoltOhmyst VTVM.
Yes, I have a variac which I picked up at the same time as the rig.
Thanks to Dave Goodwin, I have the lightbulb load tester.

Interestly, most wire insulation appears to be in very fine condition.
The only wire insulation that self-destructed was for the zip cord...it dried up and looks like necklace beads as the insulation breaks are pretty darn evenly spaced along the lenght of wire.
There are a few cotton covered leads which look like new.
