John,
Adopting a passive-aggressive stance isn't helping to enlighten the NJARC
membership to understand the concerns you have about the club's direction and its
future. Perhaps you can help make things better by explaining some of the
reasons why some of the members may have complaints.
For example, are members still unhappy about losing access to the Freehold
and Hightstown locations? Both the Sarnoff and Hazlet locations seem to have
satisfied our meeting needs. We all know these are interim facilities and that,
ultimately, we will secure our own space at Info Age. And, when we relocate,
would anyone like to make a bet that there will be dissenters who would rather
stay where we are now simply because they've grown accustomed to these places?
Are members unhappy with the content of the meetings or are folks simply
unhappy about the choice of available snacks and beverages?
Are folks unhappy about any of the tube, capacitor, or schematic programs
that the club oversees?
At this point, I don't agree with the process by which the money changes
hands during the auctions at the club meetings. Currently, it goes directly to the
seller, bypassing the club, which is conducting the auction for the seller.
This leaves the club at the mercy of the seller who can simply opt not to pay
the club a portion of the proceeds in return for its service of running the
auction. Instead, I propose that all money be paid directly to the club treasurer
who will then record the dollars and pay the seller when the auction is
complete. This simple change in procedure would prevent mishaps as occurred during
the auction this past Friday.
