Steve,
If it is the scope probe tip you need the answer is certainly 'no' for
Radio Shack. You would have to buy complete new probes to get them.
I often attach temporary leads to tube pins from the top side of the
chassis by removing the tube, winding a bit of bare wire around the
pin I want to attach to, and reinserting the tube in the socket.
One warning though. Attaching just about any instrument to tuned
circuits (plates and grids for instance) will detune that circuit
because of the capacitance of the wire and instrument which means it
will be out of tune once the wire is disconnected. Such circuits will
have to be re-tweaked after removing that test lead by using the
S-meter as a final indicator.
A scope is not accurate enough for setting frequency. There are other
ways that are better but, unfortunately, more complicated.
I am taking quite a bit of bandwidth with this so if you have
questions email me direct at ehrlich at olypen.com .
I have quite a bit of experience with HQ170 and other receivers of
that type.
