The highlight of the September auction in Ohio was the first ever public
sale of two very rare Von Lieben LRS Relay tubes. (For more info, see
Saga of the Vacuum Tube by Tyne, pps 235-241). One with open filament
sold for $7000.00, the other with good filament sold for $14,500.00.
Other high fliers were an IP-501 with a Wireless Specialty Type B two
tube amp, both in mint condition for $31,000.00, a SE 1012A short wave
receiver for $10,000.00, a Western Electric 4A receiver for $8000.00 and
a Grebe CR-2 for $5600.00. The one day sale of over 750 lots grossed
over $196,000.00, I believe a record for Estes. All of the above sale
prices do not include a 5% buyers premium. More details in ARC or upon
request.
