Some important things to remember:
(If someone could relay these on tonight's 2-meter net, I would appreciate
it; this new work schedule is really playing heck with my availablility on
Thursday nights. Thanks.)
Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief training will be conducted this
Saturday, August 17. Training begins at 9 A.M. and will be conducted for
all levels of service within SBC-DR. I will be making a presentation on
Emergency Communications from 9 until noon. The presentation is designed
to be informative for hams as well as non-hams; it will start with
introductions to the amateur radio service, ARES, and RACES, and work into
how we interface with SBC-DR. It will conclude with set-up and
demonstration of HF voice, VHF/UHF voice, and VHF packet equipment. The
latter will be fun and worth attending to participate in. This training
will take place at Desert Springs Church, 2301 Kings Row in Reno. There is
no need to RSVP.
The Third Quarter 2002 Business Meeting for NNARS will be held Sunday,
August 25, at 1:30 P.M. The location for this meeting will be classroom
MG-10 at the V.A. Medical Center, 1000 Locust Street in Reno. There will
be some important updates regarding where the organization has been and
where it is going. All members wishing to continue being involved in
emergency communication efforts coordinated by NNARS should plan to attend.
For further information regarding either of these events, contact me at
425-6102, via e-mail at [email protected], or on the 146.61 repeater system.
