Hi Bryan,

There are several manufacturers of the chip in the cable that converts from USB to serial to talk with the radio. There are known problems running on Windows with the Prolific PL-2303. Here's the warning on their web site:

Warning Notice:
Please be warned that counterfeit (fake) PL-2303HX (Chip Rev A) USB to Serial Controller ICs using Prolific's trademark logo, brandname, and device drivers, were being sold in the China market. Counterfeit IC products show exactly the same outside chip markings but generally are of poor quality and causes Windows driver compatibility issues (Yellow Mark Error Code 10). We issue this warning to customers and consumers to avoid confusion and false purchase. Prolific prohibits the distribution of any PL-2303 drivers (including download links) without written permission from Prolific.

Which chip is used in your cable?

   73,

     Dave WA1JHK

I would consider buying the RT software/cable, but want to make sure there's no problem with the radio programming port first.
