Hi everyone,

Just a quick shout out and thanks from our Scout Troop this last weekend. We had a scout get very ill while backpacking with us at altitude this past weekend near Emmaline Lake. That trailhead for those of you who don't know sits at the very end of Pingree Park road 63E near the CSU campus and Tom Bennett Campground.

We needed to contact his parents and let them know he was being taken off the mountain and would be getting dropped off at home very late in the evening. An autopatch call was made to his parents informing of his condition and ETA to home. Without working autopatch on the buckhorn repeater via site linking, this would have come at quite a surprise when the door bell was ringing at 11:30 PM...as the 145.115 repeater was not accessible from our location.

The process to bring up the patch was a bit cumbersome, multiple links needed to be established first. But the end result was a great success. The leaders from Troop 184 on this trip wish to extend thanks to the NCARC for maintaining the network of repeaters we have and the ability to make an urgent phone call this weekend was priceless.

Thanks everyone!
