a silent key now.

Elmer J. Sterkel, 87, of Loveland passed away on December 12, 2009. Elmer
was born on November 9, 1922 in Berthoud, CO to Jacob and Christina
(Hohnstein) Sterkel. He graduated from Loveland High School in 1941. He
served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Elmer married Mary
Luella Klein in 1988 in Las Vegas. He was previously married to Clara
Reichert in 1951.

Elmer was an Electronic Specialist at C.S.U. and had also done small
aircraft repair in Greeley for many years, as well as an Aircraft Inspector
for the F.A.A.

He enjoyed electronics and was an amateur radio and computer enthusiast.
Elmer liked fishing, polka, yard work, and reading.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Clara, 2 sons, and
2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mary Luella Sterkel of Loveland;
son, Karl Sterkel of Loveland; daughter, Judy Capalbo of Las Vegas;
brothers, Randy (Ilene) Sterkel of Loveland and Glenn (Joanne) Sterkel of
Loveland; and sister, Betty Lou Iverson of Las Vegas; 2 grandchildren, 4
great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at First
Congregational Church in Loveland. Burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with
military honors. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice and/or House of
Neighborly Service in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave.,
Loveland, CO 80538.
