Hi folks-

George Salzmann (AB0SF) who is our NCARC technical committee officer
provided to me an update this weekend on the 145.115 / 447.275 repeaters.
As a reminder, after we moved out of the former 145.115 site, our coverage
along I25 with the 145.115 repeater wasn't as good as we would like to have.
There were several people who weren't able to check into the ARES net, and
there were some other coverage issues from club members who work the
repeater from Longmont/Boulder.

Based on these issues and the greater utilization of 2M, George went ahead a
few weeks ago and had a contractor swap the antenna placements for the
145.115 and the 447.275. He was able to get this work done for free! From
George's experiments, the 145.115 coverage appears to be improved into
Denver along I-25. We still are weak into Cheyenne (we are still searching
for a club repeater location to better cover to the north). Coverage out
east appears to be ok, and the same along 287 north of Ted's place.

George is planning on installing the new repeaters up on Horsetooth over the
next couple of weeks. This may affect coverage and performance, also. We
will provide an update via this list when the installation is completed.

A big thanks to George for making this swap, and for leading the charge to
get the repeaters modernized and supportable!

Any signals reports are most welcome.
