When I installed mine, I used CAT5/ethernet surge suppressor,which I got
from Amazon:
Ethernet Surge Protector Gigabit High PoE++ Class 8 (154W/3.2A) TP302
Works fine with my weather station and my dish. Still need to get my
dish higher, but it is operational. This is what they look like inline,
out of the cabinet. I used a waterproofing agent in the connectors. I
think it is called "Stuff".
