When I installed mine, I used CAT5/ethernet surge suppressor, which I got from Amazon:
Works fine with my weather station and my dish. Still need to get my dish higher, but it is operational. This is what they look like inline, out of the cabinet. I used a waterproofing agent in the connectors. I think it is called "Stuff".
Do folks here in the group use any form of surge protection or arrestors for their tower-mounted nodes? I don’t recall seeing anything used at MVHS. I believe DARA has a fiber jumper for isolation.
I doubt my tower is high enough to present a major issue, but I prefer to err at least slightly on the side of caution. I’m currently brainstorming courses of action and would like to hear from others.
Thoughts?
