We’ve had a similar problem as the DARA-Vandalia-Helke interaction with three even closer omnis in our Southwest. Things are better now with only MVHS and KAS and could be even better with non-2.4 omni linking and/or just one 2.4 omni in this area. 

While the MVHS site is essentially a readily accessed walk-out tower, the KAS site has the disadvantage of very limited access. When something breaks there it may be a VERY long time before it can be replaced. The KAS omni has linked poorly with current nodes other than MVHS and OLSR rarely chooses it in a path. It has served no human except through N8ADO's airGrid temporarily on his truck’s tailgate, That made permanent and an airGrid at W8LRJ could be a reason to keep it. But if so, it needs to be DtD’d to a non-2.4 directional for linking..

MVHS is also probably our only hope of linking by RF to DARA perhaps with a pair of 3.4 NanoBridges.
