Hi, Tim:

I agree, it should have been announced.

From what I have perceived since I got active in the local mesh (10
months ago) and
what I was informed of in the last week...

Opinion answer:

/It was a software fix to a hardware problem.

/Apparently, most of the existing 2397 MHz nodes linked better while,
also apparently,
'locking out' prospective new meshers.

Commentary:

I perceive that some meshers are not satisfied with the service
provided by the MVMA planned rollout of
network of nodes on 2397 MHz.

It was recommended that I join the network on 2397 MHz.
I 'gave up' on 2397 MHz about 6 months ago.
As it turned out, 2397 MHz did not work for me, because I could not
connect to KAS from home
or anywhere...*even from the parking lot across the street from KAS!**
*N8ADO, KA8ZKR, and KD8UQI do not link with KAS.
**
Thanks to the MVMA being malleable, I tried 900 MHz,
but it failed to provide satisfactory service due to one end of the link
being in a hostile environment.
I tried 5900 MHz and it faded to 0 as the temperatures warmed.
I tried 3400 MHz and, for 6 months, it has remained a solid 100% LQ
with, usually, 26 TxMbps. (*Pure Gold*)

Sorry, but I am somewhat apathetic as to the 'goings on' on 2397 MHz.
I believe there are too many failures. I am reluctant to invest time,
talent, or treasure into 2397 MHz.
I believe that 2397 MHz *should not* be the 'cornerstone' or 'bedrock'
upon which a network should be built.
3 or more nodes on the same channel is a mesh-firmware possibility...it
is not a requirement.

  A last thought...
was any 'mesh knowledge' garnered or will be retained from this event?

Chuck
