The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Morris County in northern New Jersey...
Northeastern Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...
Northern Somerset County in northern New Jersey...
* Until 530 PM EDT.
* At 227 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Radar
estimates indicate around an inch and a half of rain has fallen
over the past several hours with a quick half inch to inch
possible over the next hour or so. This will likely cause flooding
in urban and low lying areas as well as ponding of water on
roadways.
* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Morristown, Bridgewater, Dover, Madison, Hopatcong, Florham Park,
East Hanover, Lincoln Park, Kinnelon, Hackettstown, Chatham,
Boonton, Butler, Wharton, Rockaway, Morris Plains, Mount Arlington,
Mendham, Mountain Lakes and Stanhope.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
