...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM EDT SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY
EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has expanded the
* Flood Watch to include portions of northern Delaware,
northeast Maryland, and southern New Jersey, including the
following areas, in northern Delaware, New Castle. In
northeast Maryland, Cecil. In southern New Jersey, Atlantic,
Cumberland, and Salem.
* From 2 AM EDT Sunday through Monday evening.
* The remnant low of Gordon will track north and west of our
region later Sunday and Monday. A prolonged period of moderate
to at times heavy rain will occur starting mostly late tonight
and continuing through Sunday and into Monday. A total of 1 to 3
inches of rain is expected throughout the watch area with some
locally higher amounts possible.
* Excessive rainfall and runoff can lead to rising water and
flooding, particularly in urban areas and along small creeks and
streams. The ground in northern Delaware and many places in New
Jersey is saturated, so it will not take much for flooding to
occur. There is also the potential for some flash flooding
during times of high rainfall rates.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
