918 PM EDT FRI SEP 7 2018
...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 AM EDT FOR
NORTHERN NEW CASTLE...NORTHWESTERN SALEM...CENTRAL CAMDEN AND
GLOUCESTER COUNTIES...
At 915 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms
producing very heavy rain across much of the warned area. One to
three inches of rain has already fallen in several areas, and
doppler radar indicates rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour
occurring especially from northern Delaware into portions of Salem
and Gloucester counties. Flash flooding is expected where the
heaviest rain continues to occur.
Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Wilmington, Voorhees, Glassboro, Lindenwold, Pitman, Clayton, Carneys
Point, Berlin, Elsmere, Penns Grove, Woodstown, Woodbury Heights,
Swedesboro, Chesilhurst, Newport, Arden, Talleyville, Greenville,
Mullica Hill and Hockessin.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
