...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT FOR
NORTHWESTERN CAMDEN...NORTHWESTERN GLOUCESTER...SOUTHWESTERN
PHILADELPHIA AND SOUTHEASTERN DELAWARE COUNTIES...
At 818 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding due to
very heavy rain from showers and thunderstorms. Up to 3.5 inches of
rain has fallen in some areas. Flash flooding is ongoing, with
several road closures in parts of Camden and Gloucester counties.
Flooding was also reported on I-76 and PA-611 in Philadelphia
County. While rainfall rates have decreased, additional runoff will
add to the flooding.
Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Deptford, West
Deptford, Bellmawr, Yeadon, Woodbury, Palmyra, Folcroft, Paulsboro,
Magnolia, Westville, Woodbury Heights, National Park, East Lansdowne,
Brooklawn, Audubon Park and Darby Township.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
