...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THIS
MORNING...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including the
following areas, in New Jersey, Atlantic, Camden, Coastal
Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester,
Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington,
Ocean, Somerset, Southeastern Burlington, Warren, and Western
Monmouth. In Pennsylvania, Berks, Delaware, Eastern Chester,
Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Northampton,
Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western
Montgomery.
* Until 10 AM EDT this morning
* Heavy showers and storms have developed across portions of
central New Jersey extending west into Bucks County
Pennsylvania. Storms will continue here through the first part
of the morning with additional showers and storms potentially
developing across the remainder of the Watch area. These storms
will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall with rainfall
amounts in excess of 2 to 3 inches possible in just a few hours.
This will lead to a continuing urban, small stream, and flash
flood threat...especially for areas that see repeated storms.
There will likely be a lull in activity late this morning
however additional heavy showers and storms are likely to
develop by late this afternoon, especially from the Greater
Philadelphia area southward.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that there is the potential for flash
flooding which can be life-threatening. Heavy rain is expected to
occur over a short period of time. Rapidly rising flood waters
may quickly inundate roadways and areas of poor drainage. Streams
and creeks could leave their banks, flooding nearby properties.
Please monitor the forecast, especially if you live in a location
that is prone to flooding. Be prepared to take action if a flash
flood warning is issued for your area.
