* LOCATION...Central and southern Delaware, and adjacent areas of
eastern Maryland.
* WINDS...Northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
* TIMING...A strong northwest wind with gusts of 40 to 50 mph is
expected to develop this morning. Peak gusts up to 60 mph are
likely to occur during the afternoon and evening hours. The wind
is forecast to begin diminishing gradually late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Strong damaging winds will blow down tree limbs,
trees and utility wires, resulting in power outages. Travel will
become difficult, especially for those operating a large
vehicle.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A High Wind Warning means that a hazardous high wind event is
expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage. Light-weight
outdoor objects such as patio furniture and garbage cans should
be secured.
