who propose various frequency bands  for RACES nets, let me suggest we avoid 
WARC and WARC-subsequent bands whenever  possible. The reason is simply a 
matter of the lowest common denominator. For  example, everyone who has a rig on 60 
meters would likely have that same rig  useful on 75 meters... but not vice 
versa. Lots of HF people simply haven't yet  moved into the newer parts of the 
spectrum.

My thought would be we should  have at least two bands operational... perhaps 
75 and 40. Out here we use 10  meters SSB locally. It does a fine job for 15 
to 40 miles or so. Enough for our  county but not something for statewide, 
obviously. We feature frequencies where  we find the bulk of equipment already in 
use.
