[MRCG] MRCG - MVCC Joint Ops Invitation

Hi Chuck - Thanks for checking in!
We have done some of that in the past at Tower Park. It usually consists
of getting "radio checks" between our gear and the mobile sets - if they
are otherwise nearly operational. We have also swapped "known good" radios
or components into questionable vehicle systems to isolate the problems. I
have usually brought radios for most period setups (except the SCR-610
which I don't have much recent experience with) and we can often help out.
What we can't really do is any in depth analysis which would require a lot
of unique test equipment, unique batteries, depot level documentation,
specific crystals, substitute parts and most of all, time. That can take
many days of uninterrupted time for just troubleshooting these old rigs.
The other thing is getting people connected with the American Radio Relay
League so they can proceed to get their ham license which would allow them
to legally *transmit* on some of these radios (typically the FM sets). I
have brought flyers to get people pointed in that direction. Many local
community ham radio clubs offer training classes and testing to obtain the
necessary license. Some do one-day "Ham-Cram" Technician classes followed
by the FCC test. Most pass...This is a good place to start:

Let's see if we can get enough participation on our end to continue with
this. Always great to get a proper setup actually working rather than just
a "visual"!
Thanks,Tim
