Very heavy thunder here in the morning with lighting directly
overhead. This is the fringe of hurricane Delores which is sitting in
the Pacific west of Baja last I looked. Very large body of hot, wet,
air hanging over the area. At the moment its sunny in Los Angeles but
measured temp where I am is about 85F and about 63% RH. Very
uncomfortable for a desert rat like me. We are supposed to have more
rain today and tonight but the weather service says that because this is
not the result of a front its very hard to predict and rain can be
random and sporadic. There is a flash flood warning in effect for the
whole area. Just took a quick listen on 20 meters and do not hear
static crashes. Power failures during storms are very common here. I
have indications that there was some sort of transient last night or
very early this moning. The clock in my microwave re-set but my old
computer did not turn off. Must have been very fast. When I went to the
grocery yesterday long the power company trucks were out working and the
traffic signals at many intersections were on flasher so there was some
sort of problem.
