MRCG,
Very interesting Saturday weather in San Diego! There were distant
rumbles late Friday night but the big guns arrived just before 0600(L)
. We live about 2 1/2-3 blocks from the Pacific Ocean at about 200ft
with a view of the water. As the cells moved NW I could see the
lightning strikes happening near the waters edge with two big ones very
close by. My Frankenstein switch disconnected the twin lead from the
baluns/equipment all day. Lightning/thunder/downpour lasted on and off
until late afternoon locally but continued at higher elevations to the
east. The power across the street went out from an early xfmr strike but
we are on a different feed so never lost power. I could look out to see
the weather cells approaching while watching the radar on my laptop. All
our rain catchment containers are full, it rained like we were in
Southern Baja. ALL in all very entertaining in a normally dry place but
the radios stayed off......except for the little Sony and Grundig. Did
anyone have a vlf/elf monitor running??
