Well do whatever works best for you guys, because I'm probably out of the
picture until fall unless we find a time of day when both short and long
propagation are good for everybody.

I have a favorite old war story about RTTY, that I might as well repeat.
It was when I was living in Felton (Santa Cruz area) and it was February
1996 and about 0500Z according to the QSL card. I was feeling nostalgic so
I pulled down a volume of W6AEE's RTTY magazine and started reading some
of the articles. It was a discussion between Merrill W6AEE and Herb
Hoover, Jr. W6ZH about Terminal Unit (demodulator) design.

I decided to turn on the radio and see if anybody was on. I was hearing a
couple of 80M signals from Southern California just booming in, and
listening for a while one of them said he was running 5 watts!
Propagation to die for! So I broke in to tell them how well I was copying
them so far away and we chatted for a while and then one of them said,
"Let's stand by for Pete" Well "Pete" came on with the call sign W6ZH
and turned out to be Herbert Hoover III who had been assigned his late
father's call. So I got to tell him I had just been reading from his
late father's articles in RTTY and that was what motivated me to turn
on the radio.
