Probably not. The technical manual (TM-235) does show a figure on P. 17
showing one in use with planes (bombers) flying overhead, but this is not
really close air support.

FYI, we did an air-ground QSO with a BC-611 from a parachutist at Pacificon
- see:

A variant of the BC-611 was the main radio of the gliders in use in WW II.
