 I suppose they'll make mechanical TTYs clunk away madly while the old fart on the other end hunts around for the next key to press, rather than sitting there in a quiet and dignified manner. The text should still come out right, but it'll clatter away like the loop is open.

I've been following this thread as I am interested in all this. My model 28 gets pulled out for exercise on an irregular basis and last time I had it running copying rtty.com I was getting gibberish. The Dovetron was only getting Mark on both tuners. I shot an  email to Dave Ross but sadly it arrived too late.
 I wonder if "Real Heaven has Motors"? 

 Have not had the machine running since. I have rtty.com tickling my ears at the moment to make sure I can still get it. The site has an autostart feature to connect machine to machine but I am somewhat clueless as to how to work it properly.
