I believe you're correct. The diddles are just repeated LTRS (letters shift) characters. I suppose they'll make mechanical TTYs clunk away madly while the old fart on the other end hunts around for the next key to press, rather than sitting there in a quiet and dignified manner. The text should still come out right, but it'll clatter away like the loop is open. I guess I'll just have to apologize for making noise in everybody's shacks until I can downgrade from fldigi to a proper GRC-26D set!
