[MRCG] [GreenKeys] Fwd: Clatternet Start Time

Hi Guys - To "fill in the blanks" about the station at N6CC in use last
night, 7087 Kc.:

I was using a PRC-47 / CV-2455 RATT converter/blower at 20 watts output
into a 40 meter dipole up at 20 feet. Apparently good signals all over CA,
and worked W6JVE in Arkansas as well. Next week I'll switch to 100 Watts
for another 7 dB. My local noise was about S-2, most signals were S5-S7.
Jim in Arkansas was about S3-S4 but I probably printed him 70-80%, some
QSB. There was Zero QRM on that part of the band Sunday night.

I don't have a mechanical terminal so I am using an old DOS laptop and a
homebrew Loop-to-TTL interface. The receiver was an R-390A and using
the 80 foot aluminum rain gutter on the roof of the house for an antenna.
The R-390A was driving a desktop running fldigi until I get the receive
interface problem figured out and go back to the PRC-47 for receive as well.

This is a good (only) place to exercise this gear. There are a few 850 cps
shift RATT signals on HF these days but they are all encrypted.

Fun!
73, Tim
N6CC
