While roaming the aisles at a recent gun show, I happened upon an Olive Drab box sitting on one of the tables. Although it took a minute to figure out it was a transmitter, I was intrigued by the history of it.

The unit is a T-14J/TRC-1-GY, Serial Number 813. It had a typical MFR name plate but the verbiage is what caught my interest. It was apparently manufactured in West Berlin, just after WW-2 by a German firm for use by the Signal Corps and perhaps other occupation troops. I have no idea as to the frequency, power, etc. It was in a wooden box that appeared to be part of a set that would be placed on a tabelswhere. On both sides of the chassis front panel, but inside the wooden case were small metal boxes - perhaps for some sort of storage or connections. It had an RF connect that would go to a receiver antenna jack and also some type of TELCO wire connectivity. It appeared that the "lid" hinged down for operation and there was an OD canvas shroud that pulled out from the wooden box. It may have been weather protection, but also may have been a sun shade of some sort.

Next to the MFR plate was a red, white and blue sticker showing that it was part of a lendlease or aid program.

If anyone is interested in further details, I got the owners name. He is also willing to sell at a pretty cheap price - not sure how much effort he is willing to piut into shipping. His info is:
