Bart brought a British Mance heliograph and had detailed information
regarding the US Army Arizona heliograph network operations during the
Apache wars. The Mance was part of his demonstration at Fort Mac Arthur with
message traffic being passed from Long Beach harbor to Palos Verdes then the
Fort via heliograph....really cool operation.

Richard,
One of our former participants, Bart Rowlett, W6HQK, was a heliograph
collector and enthusiast but unfortunately he died about a year ago.
You would certainly be welcome at the Ft. this coming Saturday though
and I'm sure our participants would be interested in any equipment you
might want to exhibit and/or demonstrate. Most people will be out
operating out in the field in the morning but will have returned to
the Ft. by 11:30 or noon.
