[MRCA] Technical question!

Looks good. Should work fine. You may want/need to use some ferrites between the converter and the radio in case that converter produces conducted noise. Try the radio with a dummy load and headphones and try with and without that converter to see if the noise floor changes in a way that you don’t like.

I would also fuse between the battery and converter as well as between the converter and radio just for added safety.

The converter will draw more current as the battery voltage drops (to provide the same available power to the radio) which will drain the battery even faster. But that’s ok. The good news is that those batteries have a very flat charge/discharge curve. So the voltage won’t change for a while until it drops off.

Good luck and try it on the air!

Subject: [MRCA] Technical question!

Riddle me this!
Is this a good idea?
Is it a bad idea?

Here's a video I made just for the group regarding battery upgrade for the prc-70
