[MRCA] The demise of AM Phone Net and the Flying Dutchman

You have to create an account and log in to see everything on QRZ Net. What you see without an account is only a fraction of what is there. All of the old timers and the like have relocated over there now. Don't know what happened with the old AM Phone Net but like you say it was something like the flying dutchman for a while surfacing every now and then but then disappearing again. The weird thing is that the people moderating that forum appeared to have no idea what was happening or how to resolve it? On QRZ on AM Phone there is a thread about it and its weird demise. Some say it was outdated software; others say denial of service attacks and my favorite that the problems were related to propagation.
I tend to look at it in terms of something like Eliot says, "This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper." and that's how that site died.

OK .... I don't use QRZ but I thought when you went
to the forum page it would list those 2 forums you
mentioned. Do you have to be a member to get that info ?
I never could find a specific index list nor a search
function to a list. Maybe it's not a forum like milsurplus.
Anyway thought it would be cool to see who all was still
around from the old AM Phone. I use to enjoy the discussions
there back in the day. They say it comes back up after
midnight on those cold moonless misty nights but then goes
to a server 500 error as the sun comes up.
Hmmmmm ....
