Dave:
I built my own battery out of 10 C cells in series. I tapped the bottom 2 to get the 3 Volts for the 2DF4 final tube's filament. But don't forget the nichrome wire in series with this tap. It drops the battery's 3V down to 2V, plus it prevents a current surge, when you hit the PTT switch, from popping the filament in cold conditions.

I understand the radio needs 2 different voltages and it would be a pain in the ass to fabricate this.
My question is, does anyone have for sale a drop in battery insert for this radio or can let me know where I can find one on the internet?I've seen pictures of some that take d batteries.
I have looked and cannot find anything but used original dead batteries.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards
Dave
